Supplemental Security Income is a federal government program based on funds originating in tax revenues.

As a result that it isn’t a Social Security program.

In practice, this means the SSI can be enjoyed by people who qualify for its requirements even though they are already assets for some Social Security Benefit.

Additionally, those assisted with Social Security benefits probably will receive less from the SSI program. The same for other income such as pensions and wages.

Further, some states can also enhance the montant of the monthly payments. You can discover more about SSI in your state by contacting a local  Social Security Administration office.

Regarding the SSI requirements, the program assists U.S. citizens of at least 65 years old, blind or with other disabilities, or with limited resources. Children under 18 can also be ensured.

In some cases also, noncitizens are eligible! The benefit is extended to all 50 states, including the District of Columbia and Northern Mariana Island.

Individuals may apply for SSI in person at one of the Social Security Administration local offices or through its website.

Also, they have an eligibility-checking tool you can use before submitting for application!
